Now that the season has turned colder and wetter for those in the northern hemisphere, dry skin will surely follow. Here in my house, we have a heater, and heating blankets abound. Unfortunately, while it is cozy, it gets staticky quickly. So I want to share one of my favorite moisturizing beauty butters straight from my glamour grimoire.
Base Ingredients:
1/4 Cup Cocoa Butter
1 Tbsp Beeswax
1 Tbsp Coconut Oil
1 Tbsp Avacado Oil
1 tsp Arrowroot Starch*
(Arrowroot starch is not necessary, but I discovered it makes the butter less greasy.)
Essential Oils:
3 Drops Amber
2 Drops Vanilla
2 Drops Ylang Ylang
Directions:
Grate or dice the cocoa butter and beeswax to make them easier to melt. Place both in a double boiler. Once liquified, add coconut and avocado oils. Remove from heat. As the mixture begins to cool, use a mixer to make it creamy. Failing to stir the mixture while cooling will produce a more solid substance. Once the combination is roughly room temperature, add essential oils and arrowroot (if used). Store in a food-safe glass container with an airtight lid. Store in a cool place. If you live in an especially hot climate, place it in a makeup cooler.
Hope this recipe works for you. Let me know if you try it and if you make any changes or have any suggestions to make this better!
