Simple Spell - Money Jar

Updated: Oct 29, 2022

See that area right inside your door where you drop all your junk after a hard day at work? Yeah, the spot that is covered in loose change, car keys, and ... is that an old receipt? Well, what if I told you that your loose change could be making more money for you while you sleep? It's true. A simple money jar acts as a magnet for good fortune and the best part is that you don't have to change anything about your routines- just prepare the money jar and continue dropping your change in it. That's all, super simple, right?

What you'll need:

1 Container such as a bowl, cup, mason jar, etc

1 Green or White Candle

Sharp Implement to Carve the Candle

Cinnamon Sticks - You can use loose cinnamon, but that gets messy.

Bay Leaves

Optional:

Crown of Success Oil

Gemstone to Enhance Your Intention - some suggestions include Amazonite, Citrine, Clear Quartz, Green Jade, Green Adventurine, Malachite, Peridot, Pyrite, Tiger's Eye

Once you have gathered your ingredients, start cleansing yourself, your working area, and your tools. Use whatever method feels best. I prefer sound clearing since I have a small dog and a husband with sensitive noses. I find cleansing is the most crucial step of the whole process. If you're feeling drained or upset, it will likely rub off onto your money jar. That's the opposite of what we want! So don't rush the process. Take your time and cleanse all that negativity away first.

Next, take a sharp implement such as a knife, athame, or a metal kebab skewer and carve the word 'SUCCESS' into your candle. (Don't judge me. Those sharp skewers work really well!) Frugal tip: you are welcome to use small tealights instead of a larger candle. Be warned, smaller candle = smaller power. You will have to refresh the jar more frequently than you would using a chime candle. If you opted to use an anointing oil such as Crown of Success Oil, once your candle is appropriately carved you may gently rub a small amount around the candle. Be sparing with oils because some may be more flammable than others. When in doubt, remember the wise words of Fred Flintstone: "Yabba dabba doo, a little dab will do." Wait, maybe Fred didn't say that... maybe my kindergarten teacher did. Oh well, works either way.

Alright, your candle is prepared now and it's time to light it. If you are using a large bowl as your container, you are welcome to put the candle inside the bowl but be sure nothing is near enough to cause a fire hazard. I prefer to have my candle set beside my jar instead. Magic is such a personal and spiritual journal. Everyone has different needs so don't hesitate to alter this spell to fit your individual situation. After the candle is lit, begin adding the additional ingredients one at a time. Once again, don't rush. Feel the energy of each item individually as they are placed in your container. In your mind, focus on the feelings of success and prosperity. What does it look like to you? No worry over bills? Having a little extra spending money. Or maybe it's having more success in the workplace that might lead to a promotion. The clearer your idea is, the more likely your spell will work.

Now you can go about your day as usual as you allow the candle to burn itself out. Each time you pass the jar, touch it and think about your idea of success. When the candle is out, your spell is complete. From now on, when you walk in the door, place your loose change into the jar and pat it like you would a pet. It's working hard for you and deserves some love and attention. Refresh the spell whenever you feel its effects start to wane. I like to refresh mine once a month at the same time I cleanse my home.
