Tarot #17 - The Star

UPRIGHT: Contentment, Hope, Inspiration and Serenity

REVERSED: Boredom, Creative Block, Dispair, Faithless

The Star Tarot Card Description

(Description based on the original Smith-Waite tarot card)

The Star tarot card shows a naked woman kneeling at the edge of a small pool. She is nude, representing her vulnerability and purity under the vastness of the starry night sky. In her hands are two containers of water: one representing the subconscious mind while the other represents her conscious mind. She has one foot on the ground, grounding herself in the present and the other in the water, representing dreams and intuition.

The Star Tarot Card Upright

The Star tarot card is the 17th card in the Major Arcana and follows immediately after the Tower tarot card. This period is the calm after the storm. You've survived the hardest part, and now you can look forward and begin building a better future. You will feel confident in yourself, and people will like you for who you are if you pull this card in a reading. The Star is one of the most positive cards in the deck to pull. You can rest easy when she shows up.

If you're single, the Star tarot card can mean you're ready to let go of the past and get back on the dating scene. If you're in a relationship, you're both prepared to move the relationship forward with confidence. In relation to money matters, this is a sign of great work evaluations or a more creative turn in your projects.

The Star Tarot Card Reversed

The Star tarot card in its polarity symbolizes the feeling of being helpless. You've survived some awful Tower energy but still don't feel like you've managed to get back on your feet. You may be feeling low self-esteem or a lack of confidence. However, remember that this is only a feeling and not reality. A change of attitude is required to resolve this, not a change of circumstances. It's time to heal and move on. Reach out for help if you can't seem to recover from the past.

In a relationship reading, the Star reversed can signify that you or your partner only focuses on the negative aspects of the relationship, unable to see the good. You may feel like the relationship has become boring or monotonous. The Star is here to let you know that you can bring the spark back, but you must work to heal the past. The same can be said for the workplace. If you're feeling drained at work, try focusing on the positives. If you think something isn't working, try injecting some creativity into your routine to see if that can fix some problems. The Star is here to tell you that your feelings are the problem and the situation at hand.
